Johan Santana is finally out of Minnesota and headed to New York….thats right he is going to be a Yankee…NOT!!! He is headed to the Mets. This is the first time that I can remember in a long time that the Yanks and the Sox did not land the biggest name guy out there. But for the Yankee’s I think that this is a very good thing. Let me tell you why, they have not won a title in it seems like forever and each year they always go after the biggest name out there, why I dont no.

They have the biggest payroll every year and always at least win the AL East. But usually when they try and get that big name guy they end up giving away most of there excellent prospects who just need a few years to develop and will be great major leaguers.

So then they have to start from the beginning in the minors and there major league roster is usually every year very old. This is a great move by not giving up guys like Phil Hughes and Joba, and letting Santana go somewhere, he can not hurt you in the NL.

Now lets move on to the Mets…I think that this makes them the NL favorite not only in the NL east but the whole NL. They would have won the NL East easily last year if it was not for a huge collapse in the final weeks of the season. I think that they were up 7 games with like 10 to play, so they should have been in. Now with Santana as there ace they are a lock to win the East and they will.
