The Eagles have signed free-agent cornerback Asante Samuel.
The Eagles agreed to a six-year contract on Friday with Samuel, who spent the last five seasons with New England and had 16 interceptions the last two years. Samuel also tied the NFL career playoff record with three interceptions returned for TDs. He can and will only help a Philly pass defense that had only 11 interceptions last year and failed to score a defensive touchdown. Its defense had an NFL-worst 19 takeaways.
Samuel is one of the top corners in the NFL and should have been out of New England last year. But instead he made a healthy amount of money getting the franchise tag last year. But now what will the Eagles do with Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown, I think that they will trade or move them to a different position.
My guess is that they will do either of those things to Brown rather then Sheppard. But still the Eagles play in one of the toughest divisions in football and I cant see them in the playoffs next year at all…but Philly fans have something to smile about because they are trying to improve there team.
