Allen Iverson did not cry as the crowd inside his old stomping grounds showered him with 35 seconds of unadulterated love during pregame introductions.

He blew kisses to the crowd, he pounded his chest, and when the applause and the screaming would not cease, he cupped his hand behind his ear and made the noise level rise by another dozen decibels. In an incredibly emotional comeback to the city where he spent one of the most eventful decades any NBA player has ever experienced, Iverson was given the warmest of receptions by the same fans he tantalized and frustrated for so many years. He had a chance to be the hero of the game, too, but his jumper from the corner with four seconds left was off-target, and Iverson’s old team, the Philadelphia 76ers, celebrated as though they had won a championship as the final buzzer sounded on a 115-113 victory Wednesday night over the Denver Nuggets.

It was a night when Iverson played for the present but opened up about the past, expressing his regret and embarrassment over some of the episodes that discolored his 10-plus years in Philadelphia. This was a great moment in AI life…before the game started I was not sure how the fans would react, what they would do when he was in warmups and eventually when his name was called! But I am not gonna lie to you I did not expect for him to get a 35 second standing ovation…BUT IT WAS WELL DESERVED! The way that the fans handeled themselves was brilliant and very touching but the way that AI reacted to them was even better. Over the past 12 years we have watched this tremendous basketball player mature not just as a player but as a person as well. And for these people who were by his side for more then 10 years to still be there is remarkable. It says alot about what kind of effect he had on that city!

The Philly faithful got a great game as well! But the one thing that I loved the most that I did not even know about until I read an article on the game this morning was the shoes that AI wore! They were normal Iversons but had one extra mark on them, on the side of the shoe it said THXPHILA! That is pretty bad ass and shows what type of respect that he has for the city!
