EducatedBet…Welcome To Mount Everest!

Olympic Torch Carriers

A Chinese mountaineering team took the Olympic flame to the top of the world Thursday, a spectacular feat dreamed up to underscore China’s ambitions for the Beijing Games.

The climbers could be heard struggling for breath in a live television broadcast as five torchbearers each shuffled a few feet before passing on the flame to the next person. A colorful Tibetan prayer flag lined the path and fluttered in the wind. The final torchbearer, a Tibetan woman named Cering Wangmo, stood silently on the peak with her torch while other team members unfurled small Chinese and Olympic flags.

They then clustered together, cheering “We made it,” and “Beijing welcomes you.” One World, One Dream,” team captain Nyima Cering yelled as his torch was lit. Well here is something to think about…when you were, like me sitting on the couch last night or in the office doing something for work these six people were CLIMBIMNG MOUNT EVEREST. Thats pretty sweet, if you really think about it.

It took six hours for them to make it up the mountain, now I am not sure if thats good or not but I know if it was me climbing that mountain it would have taken me 3 weeks. No lie there. But I guess on top of a mountain is the only place without crazy protesters yelling and screaming about who knows what. This was a good thing for the Olympics and these six people…so I say good for you!
