Injured center Greg Oden was reprimanded by the Portland Trail Blazers for playing in a pickup game at a neighborhood gym.
Oden, the top pick in last year’s draft, is out for the season after microfracture surgery on his right knee. He said he played two games Wednesday night when he was at the fitness center with friends.McMillan called Oden’s actions “pretty innocent,” but the coach wanted Oden to know he must avoid risky situations. Oden said he didn’t dunk eight or 10 times, as was reported on an Internet forum. But he did get in a few — and he didn’t need to jump.
Is this a big deal…not really, we have to understand that this young man is still a kid. I beleive that he is only 19 years old and all he was doing was playing a game with his friends. But even though he was just fooling around a little bit he still has to understand that he is going to be the savior for the Trailblazers and he every move he does is under the microscope.
The one thing that the Trailblazers must have to like is that Oden said that he was only going to play one game but he lost hte first so he had to play again and that I can understand!
