Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade needs time to heal, and the Miami Heat saw no reason to further postpone the inevitable.

Wade will miss the remainder of the season so he can further rehabilitate his surgically repaired left knee, which has bothered him for about a year. He will undergo a powerful shock-wave treatment later this week, and hopes he will be pain free in time for next season. Miami dropped to an NBA-worst 11-51 on Monday night, falling to the Los Angeles Clippers, 99-98. So, with all hope of saving this dismal season gone, Heat coach Pat Riley agreed that the time has come to shut down his All-Star guard.

He will miss Miami’s final 21 games, and essentially get about 3½ months off before the U.S. Olympic men’s basketball team reconvenes to resume training for this summer’s Beijing Games. Riley clearly has some concerns about seeing his franchise’s best player expose himself to potential injury, but indicated he won’t bar Wade from playing for his country, either.

Now there are probably alot of people out there who are saying bad things about D-Wade calling it quits for the year and I am here to tell you people to shut it! If the Heat were in a playoff hunt or even a good team I know for a fact that Wade would not miss the rest of the season…but since they by far the worst team in the NBA this year, there is no point for him to keep playing scoring 20-30 points a game and losing every game. I think that this is the right move for Wade and since I am a huge advocat for NBA stars playing in the Olympics, I would also say that this is better for team USA this summer. Because with a healthy D-Wade, Lebron, and Kobe, I don’t no how we will ever lose a game!
