EducatedBet…Rethink It!

BCS

Saying the BCS was in an “unprecedented state of health,” ACC commissioner John Swofford announced Wednesday that college football will not change the way it determines its national champion as it prepares to begin negotiations for future television contracts that will probably run through the 2014 season.

The decision, made during a five-hour meeting of 11 conference commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White at an ocean-front hotel here, wasn’t unexpected. Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said earlier this week that he remained opposed to the plus-one format, which would have seeded the top four teams in the final BCS standings and match them in two semifinal games and the winners playing in a national title game.

SEC commissioner Mike Slive made the plus-one proposal Wednesday morning but said there was little support among the commissioners. In fact, Slive said only he and Swofford showed much desire in seriously pushing forward the proposal. Let me tell you the only reason why the BCS will not change there format to a playoff…MONEY MONEY MONEY! It always comes back to the paper. The schools that make the actual BCS games receive so much money from the sponsers and what not that they keep voting aganisit the playoff factor. Some of the commissioners when I read the article, said that there is no problem with the BCS right now…my answer to that is because there was a clear cut number one this year and kind of a number 2.

But what happens when three major schools from 3 major conferences fo undeafeted, such as USC, LSU, and Ohio State…what does the BCS do then. Thats when all the questions will come up again about why we should change the format…I am not gonna lie to you I am sick of hearing about this…so lets just end it!
