Former major league pitcher John Rocker said Monday that baseball commissioner Bud Selig knew he failed a drug test in 2000 and that doctors for the “league” and the “players association” advised him and several Texas Rangers teammates on how to effectively use steroids.
He later went on to say that “between 40 to 50 percent of baseball players are on steroids” and “in 2000 Bud Selig knew John Rocker was taking the juice.” But do you know what he odd, last March Rocker told ESPN Radio that he thought less then 10 percent of big leaguers were taking steriods…he said that it was a lot of “media propaganda” Later that day in another interview with ESPN radio Rocker said that he came forward now because of the Mitchell report and said Selig was trying to “pass the buck” for things he knew to the report’s author, former Sen. George Mitchell.
All right even if that is true which I am not really sure I believe John Rocker, but I believe that the Mitchell Report came out on December 13 and it is now February 12. That is almost 2 months of dead time in between. So why did he wait so long to tell us he used steriods and tell us what he thinks is going on in baseball right now. The Mitchell Report did have Rocker’s name in it, but not to much. It cited a Sports Illustrated story that said “according to the Applied Pharmacy Services database, former pitcher John Rocker received two prescriptions for human growth hormone (somatropin) between April and July 2003. He originally denied these allegations but then came out and said I was prescribed them in connection for shoulder surgery.
And then he waited about a month and a half to come out and say I used not only HGH but steriods and I think this and I think that…you no what John…and I call him John because we are on a first name basis…you no what John do us all a favor and just shut the hell up please. This is the first time that I have heard from Rocker in forever and you know what I think, I think that someone could use some extra cash is going to try and get some publicity for something to make that money…I DO NOT MISS JOHN ROCKER!
