The Dallas Mavericks and Rick Carlisle reached a verbal agreement on a four-year coaching contract Friday night that seals his hiring as Avery Johnson’s successor.
Although a news conference to introduce Carlisle as the Mavericks’ new coach won’t happen until Wednesday, Carlisle and the Mavs ended two days of slow-moving negotiations late Friday by coming to terms on a four-year contract. The guaranteed deal is worth $17.5 million and is expected to be signed at 2:30 ET on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.
This is a great signing by the Mavs..because wherever Carlisle goes he instantly turns his team around…in the first year. In his first year in Detroit he won 18 more games for them and then when he signed with the Pacers he won 13 more games I am just saying thats pretty good. Now do I think that he is going to win 10 more games in Dallas next season…no not at all. But they will a much better defensive team and they will not be the 7th or 8th seed next season. I like this signing and think it will benefit the Mavs very soon!
