Betting There Not Done!

David Stern

Once again, professional sports and their leaders were hauled up to Capitol Hill on Wednesday by lawmakers who say they might try once again to legislate drug-testing policies for U.S. leagues.

Facing a House subcommittee that also held hearings on steroids in 2005, commissioners sat side-by-side with their sport’s union chief: Bud Selig was inches away from Donald Fehr; the NBA’s David Stern was next to Billy Hunter. Then there was the NFL’s Roger Goodell and Gene Upshaw, and the NHL’s Gary Bettman and Paul Kelly, who rounded out the day’s first set of witnesses.

The sports leagues have gotten it right in the intervening three years,” said Stern, who added: “This is an area where federal legislation is not necessary. Good for David Stern…its about time somebody show some nuts and step up there game. He is the only one in the last three or four years that has actually said that there is no need for Congress’ involvement in professional sports.

As I read the rest of the article on this hearing, most of the Congress pretty much ripped apart each and every sport and there commish. One rep said that “I am already on the record calling for the resignation of commissioner Selig.” So we see that he is not a fan of major league baseball and there commish! And still none of them but D. Stern said anything to defend themselves.

I think that it is about time that these men stand up for there league and stop being scared of these Congressmen and women. They show no guts when they are being questioned, I mean I am sure that it would be very very tough if I was up there but they are professionals and they need to step it up!
