Barry Bonds & Willie Mays

Barry Bonds’ 756th home run ball — which owner Marc Ecko said he would brand with an asterisk and send to the Baseball Hall of Fame to comply with the results of an Internet poll — could be on display at the Cooperstown, N.Y., museum by Opening Day.

“We’ll display it, but the text accompanying the ball will cover when it was hit and how it ended up in Cooperstown,” Jeff Idelson, the Hall’s vice president for communications and education, told reporters. “It’s meant to be educational.” Ecko, who bought the record-breaking ball for $752,000 at an online auction, still has the ball. Ecko had asked fans what he should do with the ball. He proposed blowing it up, blasting it into space or branding it with an asterisk — reflecting suspicions that Bonds broke Henry Aaron’s home run record with the help of performance-enhancing drugs. Online voters picked the asterisk option, and Ecko said he would carry out their wishes.

I am not gonna lie to you, I really like what this dude who spent a ton of money a the ball did and is doing. He asked the fans what they wanted and he is respecting there wishes…because lets get real, without the fans there are no sports. Do I think that the ball should be marked…Yes I do. He is part of the steriod era in baseball and after watching Clemens’ hearing and listening to Andy Pettitte, I think that Bonds experimented with some sort of preformance enhancing drug.

Now I could be totally wrong and if I am I apologize but I have a feeling that I am not! But only time will tell about Bonds, the ball, and if Bonds gets pissed…A quick little side note about the Bonds and the ball, Bonds has said on numerous occasions that if the ball is marked he would boycott the Hall. Well then Barry…BOYCOTT!
