Indian Wells Tennis Gardens

Taking a page out of the NHL’s playbook, the NBA is heading to the great outdoors when the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets square off in an October exhibition game.

The matchup will be held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif., on Oct. 11, The Arizona Republic reports. The stadium seats 16,100 fans and annually hosts the Pacific Life Open tennis tournament. The Suns visited the game site last summer and put down a basketball court on the tennis surface. The Suns are also expected to bring a scoreboard and video boards for the game.

The NBA has done this once before way back when in 1972, when again the Suns were a part of it, but that time it was in Puerto Rico and they played Milwaukee. I think that this is a great idea. It is going to bring a lot of people to the game, I am sure it will sell out and if not be very very close.

The only thing I dont like is that they are just doing a preseason game. I think that they do just what the NHL did and make it a regular season game and if the weather becomes a factor then they just reschedule the game at a one of the teams courts. But I do look forward to watching this game and I do except the NBA and NHL to both do more outdoor games.
