Sports Betting Advice From A Voice Of Reason…

alt

For all those sports bettors out there taking advice from yourself, your friends, your handicappers and TV and radio analysts, be leary of what you hear. To win in this business you need to have a number of factors working for you. The first is properly screening who you are listening to. For instance, I was listening to the countless TV analysts offering their advice on who they think will win the Super Bowl. One of them had a track record of 45-50 over 2007. He was a loser! Understanding which side to take in sports is not easy.

Here are a few things to consider when taking advice from anyone regarding a sports bet.

1. Consider the Source: Stay away from most TV and Radio analysts. They rarely factor in the spread, and therefore you’re listening to advice on who will win out right. In this case you should be considering the moneyline. However, the moneyline is very difficult to win at long term because you could have a winning record with your picks and still lose money, especially if you are picking a lot of favorites instead of dogs.

Still Gonna Bet Him…I Think So

Roger Federer

Top-ranked Federer ran his record against the only American left James Blake to 8-0 and advanced to the Australian Open semifinals with a 7-5, 7-6 (5), 6-4 victory Wednesday. If you have been reading my blogs daily you would see that I think it was me that gave you a special pick and I think that pick was to bet Roger Federer to win the Australian Open. I am not gonna lie I was a little nervous watching his 5 set match the other night, aganisit someone who he should have beat in 3 sets. But that guy gave him his best game that he has ever played and still lost…by the way that was one of the best matches I have ever seen!

I Bet He Comes Back

Tony Dungy

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay went to bed Sunday night believing coach Tony Dungy “was leaning” toward coming back for the 2008 season, but he won’t know for sure until a 4:30 p.m. ET news conference on Monday. According to the Colts Coach Dungy, GM Bill Polian, assissant head coach Jim Cladwell, and Irsay will all be in attendence for the news conference. Irsay has confirmed that he has already signed Caldwell to an extension and has told him that he will be the next head coach of the Colts if and when Dungy retires.
