Tough Finish to Bet On

Pat Summit

The score was tied. There was less than one second to play, and Georgetown’s Jonathan Wallace was dribbling 70 feet from the basket when he heard the whistle.

Nicky Anosike sank two free throws with two-tenths of a second left and Tennessee (No. 2 ESPN/USA Today, No. 1 AP) rallied to beat Rutgers (No. 7 ESPN/USA Today, No. 5 AP) 59-58 on Monday night in a rematch of last season’s national championship game.

And Then There Was One, This Is Why You Should Take My Handicapping Advice

Bruce Pearl

Well well well, if you remember correctly, I believe that I said that no NCAA basketball team will enter the tournament undeafeted. And after last nights upset on Kansas, Kansas State has help to prove my point. They beat Kansas by 9 last night but it really was not that close. Now I am not saying that Kansas St. is better then Kansas but home court advantage is huge in college basketball. Do I think that K State will beat them in a couple weeks…hell no, but it is just to tough to win every game in college basketball…because the fans are nuts, everywhere you go. But a little side note about K. State, they probably have the best player in the country on there team (besides Hansbourgh) in Michael Beasley. Now I am not gonna lie to you I had no idea who this guy was until about 530 last nite while I was watching PTI and they started talking about him. But I watched the highlights of this kid play and I think that he is very very good. He has some range from the outside, he showed that he can hit numerous 3’s and then he can slash to lane if needed. Kansas was sending two guys to him everytime he touched the ball and he still took over the game. I was very impressed!

But now on to the lonely unbeaten team…the Memphis Tigers. This team if you remember correctly, had the best chance of going undeafeted throughout the regulr season. They are in the weakest conference and one of the top 3 teams this year, but still I dont think that they will run the table until the tourney. That means that they will have to win conference USA, win there tourney, and then if they want to win the whole thing win 6 more games…not gonna happen.

I think that they will end up with one loss and I am going to give you two games and one of them will be a loss…its not going to be for a while though, there next four games are at home so the date I am looking at for them to lose one is either Feb. 20 @ Tulane and the reason I say this game is because there next game is aganisit SEC powerhouse Tennesse. Even though this game is at home Memphis will have to be on there A game to beat the Vols..who I might add I picked to go to the final four…But Memphis will lose one of those two games…BELIEVE IT!

My Educated Bet…Kidd Stays…

Jason Kidd

Well its that time of year in the NBA again…with the trade deadline approaching, the biggest name out there again is Jason Kidd. Every year its the same thing with Kidd, he always wants to be traded and never ever goes anywhere. It is true the Nets are not going anywhere and the only way to get better is to trade him to a contender. I am sure Kidd would like to go somewhere in the West. Kidd is still an elite point guard is a capable of dropping a triple double each and every night, so why not trade him and start over if your the Nets. But this is an ongoing process that happens
